Does shoulder subluxation guarantee the tear of rotator cuff, ligaments, tendons, etc?
A few days ago I was benching and I believe subluxation(partial dislocation) occured on my shoulder. Would the subluxation guarantee damage or are there some cases with no critical rotator cuff and important ligament/tendon/tissue damage? And any idea why my back/shoulder blade is weak/heavy too? Perhaps a posterior dislocation? Btw I've already been to the Ortho and took a x-ray.

Rotator Cuff injury/tear?
I dislocated my shoulder surfing after a heavy wave hit my arm, and I believe I now have a tear in my rotator cuff/ligaments. I did physical therapy for about six weeks, and I saw an orthopedist. The doctor didn't do an MRI, and he said just to see how it heals up, maybe we won't need to do surgery. I was happy to not have to have surgery. It has been eight years now and it has not dislocated again. I am a 43 year old male. I can do normal activities such as getting dressed, brushing my teeth, driving a car, and playing golf which I love. When I lift weights, after the third set of ten dumb bell presses, I can't lift anymore with that arm but my other arm can keep going. I also don't surf anymore because it seems like I could re-injure it. It feels weaker than it used to feel even though the muscles around it are decently strong . When I play golf, I hit the ball about 210 to 235 yards on a drive. So I have mobility and some strength, but it's not perfect. I also try not to lift anything heavy above my head because it seems like I could re-injure it. Generally, I'm happy that I can do normal things, yet I do favor it at times. My question is does having rotator cuff surgery make it perfect again? I would be sad if I had the surgery and then I had less mobility and couldn't play golf. Does surgery prevent the tear from getting worse? That is, could the tear get worse if I don't have surgery? If I don't have the surgery, am I just on a course to eventually wear-out my shoulder from the tear getting bigger? Or do most people with this type of tear/injury just try not to re-injure it and be happy that they have decent mobility and some strength?
