Help with my shoulder injury?
I've had problems with my left shoulder on and off for about 12 years now, initially as a swimmer now working as a medic (lifting heavy patients). At the end of February it started to get really tight. Woke up one morning and couldn't even move my arm for a couple hours. Finally went to my PCP when the pain was from my neck to my elbow, down my scapula area, wrapped around my rib cage and up my pectoris. On NSAIDS & muscle relaxer. Referred to awful orthopedic (spent less than 10 min with me btw 2 visits), have had Xrays that showed nothing and today got an "unremarkable rotator cuff MRI". In PT now, therapist calls it tendonitis and impingement syndrome. A month later now it's still hard to move, pops when I do arm circles, cramps up easily, muscle spasms and difficultly lifting heavy things. Are there injuries that don't show up on an MRI? Any advice? I'd like to go back to work in the near future, and swim! I am seeing an second ortho in a couple weeks.

ROTATOR CUFF MRI RESULTS--PLEASE INTERPRET!?
Here is the report from my right shoulder MRI, done to rule out RCT (40yr old male complains of pain for 3 months, diminshed range of motion) Examination consists of oblique coronal, oblique sagittal, axian proton density, and coronal fast spinecho fat-suppressed T2-weighted sequences. The rotator cuff musculature is normal is signal, no atrophy or denervation edema. Teres minor is intact, the infraspinatus tendon is intact. the supraspinatus show some intermediate signal at the enthesis with the tendon margins appearing intact. the subscapularis shows intact tendon fibers with somewhat increased intensity indicating tendinosis. the biscpes tendon is located within the bicpital groove and show normal contour and signal. the biceps anchor is intact. supreior labrum shows increased signal throughout and appears degenerated w/o any displaced fragment appreciated. the posterior labrum below the equator has a rounded focus of bright signal reflecting an intralabral cyst indicative of a labral tear. more inferiorly the posterior labrum has a normal appearance. the anterior labrum at the equator has a cleft appearance and more inferiorly shows increased signal w/o disruption of the morphology. the capsule ligamentous complex appears of normal thickness. the humerus head shows enthesopathic cyst deep to the infraspinatus insertion. jugular cartilage appears well-preserved as is the glenois cartilage. there are no oseous proliferative changes a the inferior margin of the clavicle or acronium with normal morphology of each. there is no synovial proliferation at the AC joint. coracoacromomial ligament is normal. rotator interval appears normal.. Can someone with knowledge of orthopedics please translate this into English for me? Thanks

Torn Rotator Cuff? MRI?
have to have an MRI..I was wondering if any of you have had one? I have a calcium buildup and I have a torn rotator cuff. I have looked those up. I would like to know if any of you have any experience in this. (The doctor just called and told me about this) What will I have to have done? (Doctor words, "We will see what it looks like first.") :) I ask here because I like the people here and get more responses, too. I also like the responses here. People seem to care. I ask in pain and surgery or whatever and no one responds. (they are all at work, I guess.) I accept you not meaning to be mean, but it seems like it to me. (Overly sensitive and in a lot of pain) I try to answer questions to the best of my knowledge. It could be worse...I could ask in pregnancy as I was going to. They are nice and talkative there, too. :)

Shoulder pain around rotator cuff (not a tear)?
Hi, Whenever I sit by table and put my hand on the table, or start typing, I feel a strong pain on my shoulder around rotator cuff. MRI didnt show any tear in there and I am still dealing with this pain for over 2 years. Any suggestions what it might be from? thanks

Advice on rotator cuff MRI findings?
I am a 45 yo female with 3 years of severe pain, weakness, and strong spasms in my right shoulder. I have had physical therapy, chiropractic manipulation, narcotic and anti-inflammatory meds, and one steroid injection- none of which have helped for any enduring length of time. I do not want to take narcotic pain medication any longer due to side effects and the long length of time I have been on them. Rotator cuff right shoulder MRI findings: Moderate thickening and intrasubstance signal in subscapularis tendon. Ortho Dr. who reviewed MRI also noted a cyst and secondary impingement. No tears identified. Questions: 1. What does "intrasubstance signal" mean, 2. Would this condition improve with some type of non-invasive surgery or is this something I will have to live with? I will discuss with the Ortho Dr. but would appreciate any insights from this forum. Thank you in advance!
